Easy Homemade Deodorant For Everyone With Stinky Pits
This easy homemade deodorant uses a lot ingredients you probably already have in your kitchen! It just takes minutes to mix up and is easy to customize for every individual.

Why Would You Make Deodorant?
There was a time when we wore Dove and Old Spice, and it worked for us. Then, at some point in my twenties, I dug deeper into learning about the chemicals in our everyday products that would be worth avoiding to prevent long-term health effects.
So, I started down the road of buying more natural products or making them myself if I could. Fortunately, deodorant was one of the easiest things to replicate, and I found it worked even better than any of the store-bought natural options.
It works for my hard-working husband, and I can adjust the essential oils I use to make him smell just the way I want him too 🙂 Actually, we share the same jar, so we both smell great and natural.
After I have a baby, my hormones always go a bit crazy and make me smell more strongly. But I also have a baby’s nose close to my pits, so I make a batch without essential oils for me to use. It helps me not smell so bad, but also still be safe for my babe.
Speaking of babies, while I’m pregnant, my sense of smell is soooo heightened, but this deodorant is not only pleasant to smell, it also completely takes care of the strong musk Zach omits after a hard work day!

The Natural Ingredients You’ll Need To Make Easy Homemade Deodorant
- Coconut oil – The fatty acids in coconut oil have antibacterial benefits. It can help reduce the odor-causing bacteria in your arm pits. I even just use plain coconut oil after shaving sometimes in the evening, and use the stronger stuff in the morning before I start my day.
- Shea butter – This adds thickness to the recipe and is also antimicrobial.
- Baking soda – The baking soda in the recipe helps fight body odor! If you have any sort of irritation from this deodorant, reduce the amount of baking soda in the recipe, and work your way up to the amount that feels comfortable.
- Arrowroot or tapioca powder – These are highly absorbent powders that effetely work at an antiperspirant.
- Essential oil of tea tree – Tea tree includes compounds that are antibacterial, antiseptic, antimicrobial, anti-fungal, and anti-inflammatory and really helps reduce odor. I don’t make this deodorant without it.
- Essential oil of sage – I include sage in this recipe because it is a natural sweat suppressant!
- Essential oil of rosemary – Rosemary is a nice unisex scent, and it helps with memory! You could replace this with any scent you like. Lavender, juniper, orange, lemon, or whatever appeals to you.

How To Make Easy Homemade Deodorant
- In a small microwavable bowl, place the coconut oil add shea butter. If necessary, microwave at 5 second intervals to soften.
- Add baking soda and arrowroot powder. Mix until combined.
- Add the essential oils of tea tree, sage, and rosemary and mix until combined.
- Fill small jars or tins with the deodorant mixture.

Tips For Best Usage
- Use daily, taking a fingernail size dap out of the jar and spreading on armpits. A little dap will do ya!
- Store for months at room temperature, keeping a lid on in between uses.
- Shea butter is optional, but it does help thicken it up and keep it from melting in the summer
